Charter Night celebrated 46 years, honored service, reviewed achievements, and reinforced goals of fundraising, membership growth, social media engagement, and district grant participation.
The City of Gaithersburg and the Rotary Club will host the annual “Flags For Our Heroes” display at Bohrer Park over Memorial Day weekend, featuring 756 American flags honoring military members and other individuals recognized by sponsors.
The display will be open to the public from Friday, May 22 through the morning of Monday, May 25, with an inauguration ceremony scheduled for Saturday, May 23 at 11:00 am that will include local officials and patriotic entertainment.
Additional events include a peace ceremony at the park’s Peace Pole following the opening program and a Flag Retirement Ceremony led by Scouts at dusk on Sunday, May 24 for the proper disposal of worn flags. The display will be illuminated at night and monitored by Scouts, and all events are free to attend.
Rotary Club President Stuart Silverman presents a $1700 donation check to Grace Rivera-Oven, CEO, The Upcounty Hub. The Upcounty Hub distributes over 30,000 pounds of food and other essentials to serve over 1,300 households every week. The Upcounty Hub partners with Care4YourHealth to connect their clients to primary health care services, including vaccinations and preventative health care.
